The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a botanical garden of 63.7 hectares in Singapore that includes the National Orchid Garden ( National Orchid Garden ) which is a collection of over 3,000 species of orchids . It also has a path through a small jungle rain, and a garden of spices . He is a member of BGCI , and international identification code as a botanical institution and the initials of his herbarium is SING .
This park was established in 1859 . With its meadows and lakes , this botanical garden is very popular among the population, which is used for recreation: the landscape is enjoyed by both locals and tourists.The place has two lakes, one is the Lake Symphony , and the other the Swan Lake . In the Lake Symphony can be heard free concerts offered by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra every Sunday.
In the gardens is the headquarters of the National Parks Board , is also a restaurant French colonial located in a house. There is also a cafe in the visitor center entrance and a restaurant in the Ginger Garden .
The Singapore Botanic Gardens is undergoing a major refurbishment that includes building an underground parking of vehicles and the renovation on the inside of the gardens. Is also under the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden , which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2006 .
