The region Tierradentro is located in an inaccessible part of the Colombian Central Cordilleras. Tierradentro is the traditional settlement area of the Paez Indians, who live from agriculture. In San Andres de Pisimbalá (in the neighboring valley of Inza) is the Parque Nacional de arqueológico Tierradentro one of the most important archaeological sites in Colombia. Since 1995, the park is on the UNESCO list of world heritage of mankind.
