The airport area is currently a total of around 10 square kilometers. Nearly all airport facilities are located between the two parallel, four-kilometer-long take-off and landing strips, similar to the Munich Airport Franz Josef Strauss . The two previously realized takeoff and landing paths run in northwest-southeast direction.

The motorway-like dual carriageway and the speed train coming from the north towards the airport. The highway at the height of the tower makes a left turn and there is divided on the Departure for the various terminal buildings and other infrastructure facilities. Between these lines is the 132-meter high air traffic control tower , according to the Bangkok (132.2 m), second highest tower in the world.

The central main terminal building with its distinctive roof tent and the upstream Pierabfertigungsgebäude , the Contact Pier Рa building with hose gates Рlocated between the two runways and landing strips and perpendicular to it. Before this pier run two runways , which connect the two tracks together. South of it is so far the only, cross-shaped satellite terminal building , which by a shuttle train is connected (Aerotrain) with the contact pier and exclusively used for handling international passengers.

West of the satellite is now a large square plot of waste land, to be built on in future, the second satellite building. South of the satellites are the cargo terminal building , the air terminal for budget airlines (low cost carrier terminal) and, further south, along the western slopes, the hangars of the local Malaysia Airlines and kerosene tanks . Between the satellite and the low-cost carrier terminal is a small control tower, only for the monitoring of aircraft movements on the apron is in charge.
