Dunedin, located on the South Island, is New Zealand’s second-largest city. The city carries a Scottish heritage that it is proud of, which is why it is also known as Edinburgh of the South. Although it is notorious for its bad weather conditions, it still has much to offer tourists that will leave them longing for a second trip.

Tourists interested in the sculptures and architecture of Dunedin can visit places like the Otago University, which not only offers visitors views of beautiful old buildings but is also conveniently close to many cafes and bars.

Other such places include The Royal Albatross Colony, which is located at the Taiaroa Head, Otakou Marae, which is a Maori church as well as a meeting house, Larnach Castle, which is considered the only castle in the country

There are also places like the Dunedin Chinese Garden, which is an example of a traditional Chinese garden, Orokonui EcoSanctuary, which houses the country’s most rare and fascinating wildlife as well as providing a natural environment for their fauna and flora and the Otago Peninsula, which provides a beautiful scenic view of the coastline that includes headlands, rugged points and Allans Beach located on the south east coast. Dunedin offers various attractions that may interest visitors travelling alone, with friends or even family, with its historic value as well as its beaches and interesting cultural performances.
