The Incheon International Airport (IIA) is the largest airport in South Korea and one of the largest in Asia . He is on to Incheon island belonging Yeongjongdo in the Yellow Sea , 52 kilometers west of Seoul . The Incheon Airport is the hub of Korean Air , Asiana Airlines and Cargo 360 . The airport was opened in 2001, replacing the international air traffic to Gimpo International Airport . Gimpo serves well, except for flights to Tokyo Haneda Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport , only inter-Korean flights.

The airport is the backbone of the international civil aviation and air cargo transport in East Asia . He is, in terms of traffic volume , the seventh largest airport in Asia, after Tokyo International Airport ( Tokyo ), Beijing Capital International Airport ( Beijing ), Hong Kong International Airport ( Hong Kong ), Airport Bangkok Suvarnabhumi ( Bangkok ), Singapore Changi Airport ( Singapore ) and Narita (near Tokyo). The Freeway 130 connects the airport to the mainland, part of which is the Yeongjong Bridge. There are also in October 2009 a second road link across the Incheon Bridge . There are regular bus connections exist to the whole of South Korea , as well as ferries to Incheon and other nearby ports.
