Guatapé is a municipality in Colombia , located in the subregion east of the department of Antioquia . Bounded on the north by the municipality of Alexandria , on the east by the municipality of San Rafael , on the south by the towns of Granada and El Peñol and on the west by the Peñol . Its capital is far 79 km from the city of Medellin , capital of the department of Antioquia . The municipality has an area of 69 square kilometers.
Now Guatapé has great potential to exploit religious tourism, agrotourism, ecotourism, culture and adventure. There are hotels, restaurants, ships, boats and tourist attractions to enjoy, contemplate, meditate and unwind.
