Cyprus or The Republic of Cyprus, Greek Kypriaki Democracy (Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία), Turkish Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti, English Republic of Cyprus is an island nation in the eastern Mediterranean, in the year 1960 by the United Kingdom gained independence. Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean, it is geographically to Asia, is politically and culturally, however, counted on Europe.
The former British colony by the United Kingdom on 16 August 1960 granted independence, and joined on 20 September 1960 the United Nations at.
