Brisbane is the capital of the State of Queensland in northeast Australia . The town lies on the Brisbane River near its confluence with the Coral Sea . The metropolitan area has 2 million inhabitants. Brisbane is both Catholic ( Archdiocese of Brisbane ) as well as Anglican archbishop’s seat. An important industry is the petroleum industry .
