Probably one of the most popular Barcelona landmarks is the Sagrada Familia, a large Catholic church designed by master architect Antoni Gaudi. Construction of the structure began in 1882 and encountered several interruptions and obstacles as the years went on. Despite its being unfinished, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was declared a minor basilica in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI.

The Sagrada Familia’s design is said to be a mixture of Art Nouveau, Catalan Modernism, Catalan Noucentisme, and Spanish Late Gothic. The basilica’s exterior is decorated with some of Catholicism’s most significant events, while its interior is adorned with columns and various geometric patterns that symbolize Catholic concepts such as virtues, sins, and saints.

Located along the Mediterranean coastline, Barcelona is also the perfect summer destination for water-lovers. Its beaches sparkle with fine sand and are lined with healthy, green palms, making it an ideal haven for relaxation and recreation. Some of the must-see beaches in Barcelona are the Barceloneta Beach, the Icaria Beach, and the Mar Bella Beach. These attractions offer locals and tourists the chance to enjoy the bright sun, the sparkling water, and water sports that promise to keep the excitement and pleasure going.

For soccer enthusiasts, the Camp Nou and the FC Barcelona Museum should be at the top of their priority lists! Camp Nou, a football stadium that seats more than 99,000 people, is the home of the FC Barcelona for more than 50 years now. Tourists can get a feel of how it is like to be sitting and watching an FC Barcelona game by participating in a Camp Nou guided tour, which also includes visits to the Presidential Box, the TV Room, the Chapel, the Fundacio Zone, and the Press Room. After the tour, drop by the FC Barcelona museum to know the history of the club through the displays of collections of documents, photographs, trophies, and other memorabilia. The museum also houses a 3D-cinema.
