Barbados is located on the eastern edge of the Caribbean. Originally uninhabited island was settled in 1627 by the British. Until the abolition of slavery in 1834 were used on the sugar plantation slaves. Until the 20th Century beginning was the island’s economy geared to the production of sugar, rum and molasses. The gradual introduction of social and political reforms in the 1940s and 50s led to independence from Britain in 1966. The cultivation of sugar as the main economic branch was replaced in 1990 by industry and tourism.

The main language is English. The locals speak a mix of English and Barbadien. Mild tropical maritime climate with constant air temperature and average humidity. Barbados lies in the danger zone by hurricanes in the Caribbean (hurricane season from June to November).
